Lady Gaga's Golden Globes Gown Pays Tribute to Judy Garland in 'A Star Is Born'
Dress for the job award you want. That's just what Lady Gaga did tonight when she stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in a voluminous Valentino gown with a train that stretched several feet.
Lady Gaga is expected to win tonight's award for best actress in a drama for her turn as Ally in A Star Is Born.
But she's not the first to play the role. Gaga stars in the fourth version of A Star Is Born, and her dress pays homage to Judy Garland, who played the lead in the 1954 version (the second).
Garland's dress was by Jean Louis.
And whether it's intentional or not, Gaga's dress subtly nods at the color, full skirt, and belled sleeves of Garland's dress.
Gaga, whose posing game on the red carpet is second to none, also tips her hat to Garland in her poses.
