Christian Bale Thanks "Satan" for Dick Cheney Inspiration in Best Actor Golden Globes Speech

"And thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration," Bale joked at the podium.
Christian Bale took home the Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a musical or comedy film, for his role as former Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice on Sunday night.
"Thank you to my beautiful wife, who says less is more," the actor began. "Thank you for our beautiful children."
Bale kept his speech short, but later joked, "Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration." He went on to thank the cast and crew, emphasizing the prosthetics experts on Vice with whom he shares the award.
"Much appreciated, cheers," he said as he exited the stage.
The actor beat out John C. Reilly for Stan & Ollie, Lin-Manuel Miranda for Mary Poppins Returns, Robert Redford for TheOld Man & the Gun and Viggo Mortensen for Green Book.
This was one of six Golden Globe nominations for Vice, which is director Adam McKay's seventh feature film. During the awards season it was recognized by numerous organizations such as the Screen Actors Guild and Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.
Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh hosted the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 6.
